"If you want a better future for yourself, you should never hesitate start training taekwondo"
Ms. Büsra GÖR is a two time and reigning World Champion. She will compete for Turkey in the K44 F -49 kg division of the 6th WTF World Para-Taekwondo Championships Samsun.
The WTF has interviewed Ms. GÖR leading up to the championships.
How did you feel when you heard that para-taekwondo will be included at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games?
GÖR: It was the news that we had been waiting for, but it was still a surprise for me. I felt very happy and excited. My aim was only World and European events but now I have added Paralympics to my list.
What are you hoping to achieve at this year’s World Championships?
GÖR: I am already a double world champion. Now I am hoping for the third one for this year.
How have you prepared yourself for this year’s World Championships?
GÖR: I always train with a tough schedule. Although I have never been beaten until now, I always train harder.
What impact do you think the introduction of world rankings has had on the sport?
GÖR: Before world rankings, we have always fought for medals only. Now we have one more achievement to fight for, to be ranked No. 1.
What do you love most about the sport?
GÖR: Being an active national team athlete makes me feel more integrated to the society and life. It gives me self-confidence
What advice would you give to young people out there with impairments who are thinking about taking up para-taekwondo?
