Ms. Aynur Mammadova of Azerbaijan will compete in the K44 F +58kg division at the 6th WTF World Para-Taekwondo Championships Samsun!

The WTF has interviewed Ms. Mammadova that is a former World and European Champion.
How did you feel when you heard that para-taekwondo will be included at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games?
Mammadova: I am a World and European Champion. I trained hard for years and won. I have been waiting for the moment that para-taekwondo was announced as Paralympic sport. And, finally, this day has come. Now I understand we will take part in Paralympic Games Tokyo 2020 and I will have a chance to compete there.
What are you hoping to achieve at this year’s World Championships?
Mammadova: I have been World Champion previously. The next big important event for me is the 6thWorld Para-taekwondo Championships in Samsun, Turkey. Of course, as an athlete I train hard and expect success.
How have you prepared yourself for this year’s World Championships?
Mammadova: I do taekwondo every day and have a special training program. My daily program is tactics and sparring in the morning and gym in the evening. Leading up to official championships the national team trainings are usually more difficult.
What impact do you think the introduction of world rankings has had on the sport?
Mammadova: Now everybody has a chance to work hard to qualify to take part in Paralympic Games 2020.
What advice would you give to young people out there with impairments who are thinking about taking up para-taekwondo?
Mammadova: My main advice to young generation is to be a real athlete, which means to be role model, strong-willed and determined.
