Lima 2019 will be held from 23 August-1 September 2019 in Lima, Peru, and will feature a record 1,850 athletes who will compete in 17 sports, overtaking Toronto 2015 as the biggest Parapan Ams ever.
Athletics, badminton, boccia, cycling, football 5-a-side, football 7-a-side, goalball, judo, powerlifting, shooting, sitting volleyball, swimming, table tennis, taekwondo, wheelchair basketball, wheelchair rugby and wheelchair tennis will make up the sporting programme.
Mexico D.F. in 1999, Mar del Plata, Argentina, in 2003, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in 2007, and Guadalajara, Mexico, in 2011, staged the four previous editions of the Parapan American Games.
The official logo of the Lima 2019 Parapan American Games was unveiled during a presentation at the High Performance Centre of Videna in Lima, Peru, with the presence of Xavier Gonzalez, International Paralympic Committee (IPC) CEO, Jose Luis Campo, Americas Paralympic Committee (APC) President, Carlos Neuhaus, Lima 2019 President, and Luisa Villar, National Paralympic Association of Peru President.
“The logo represents the Parapan American values very well, it is very nice and coexists very well with the Pan American logo,” said Xavier Gonzalez.
“We came to work together so that Lima 2019 is a success. It is our third visit and we highlight the presence of the media, showing the strong commitment the country has with the Games.”
Jose Luis Campo added: “The country is on the right way to host this important event for the Paralympic Movement and I expect we can build on the success of Toronto 2015.”
