On November 15, 2015 in Mexico City, the World Taekwondo Federation (WTF) has become a full member of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC)!
The IPC held its 17th General Assembly in Mexico City on Sunday with nearly 300 people in attendance.
During the morning session, IPC President Sir Philip Craven presented the IPC’s Biennial Report which highlighted the growth and breadth of the Paralympic Movement’s work in the last two years.
The IPC General Assembly approved the membership of 9 (nine) new organizations, 5(five) of which were National Paralympic Committees (NPCs) and 4 (four) International Federations (IFs).
The approved NPCs are:Aruba, Yemen, St Vincent and the Grenadines, Guinea Bissau and Somalia.
The approved International Federationsare: World Taekwondo Federation, International Sailing Federation, International Federation of CP Football and Badminton World Federation.
It was also agreed to terminate the membership of the NPCs of Bangladesh, Somalia (an old NPC), Albania and Peru because of either their inactivity or because of a suspension that exceeds more than four consecutive years.
