Earlier, this year WTF President, Dr. Chungwon CHOUE appointed eight (8) members including two (2) athlete representatives to the WTF Para-Taekwondo Governing Board (herinafter "Para-GB").
The 1st ever meeting took place in Samsun, Turkey the next day after the 6th World Para-taekwondo Championships.
On 18th September, 2015 in a conference hall of Anemon hotel, WTF President, Dr. Chungwon CHOUE welcomed all the members of the WTF Para-GB and the Chairman, Mr. Koos Engelbrecht opened the meeting.
Previously, some additional WTF para-taekwondo committees and departments were appointed in order to fulfill the aims and ojectives of WTF Para-GB.
During the meeting the following committees made reports and announced their suggestions: Research and Development Committee, Education Committee, Para-Athletes Committee, Poomsae Committee, Referee Committee and Classification Committee.
WTF Para-GB prepared amendment proposals to Para-Taekwondo Bylaw, Para-Taekwondo Competition Rules, Para-Taekwondo Poomsae Competition Rules. Especially, WTF Para-GB members concentrated on World Para-taekwondo Rankings (both kyorugi and poomsae). A new system of Para-taekwondo poomsae world ranking is expected in the nearest future.
Then, WTF Para-GB members discussed the upcoming events in 2016 year as well as formed the annual and beannual plan of para-taekwondo events. A special attention was focused on WTF Strategic Plan and preparations to Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.
At the meeting, WTF President, Dr. Chungwon CHOUE awarded WTF Para-taekwondo Governing Board Members with official appointment letters and presented memorable gifts.
EPTU President, Mr. Aleksandr Shlychkov was appointed officially as WTF Para-GB Member.
WTF President said: "The Para-Taekwondo Governing Board has been carefully selected to ensure that the WTF has a solid base to develop taekwondo as an all-inclusive sport and expand the competition formats to include athletes of all disabilities. Their work will also be to perfect all aspects of the para-taekwondo kyorugi dicipline that will be featured on the 2020 Tokyo Paralympic Games program."
