Currently IWAS maintains a 2 yearly World Games program, which is taken to various nations in the world. The IWAS World Games encapsulates our motto of Unity, Friendship and Sportsmanship and demonstrates the values long held by the IWAS to educate, train and provide competitive opportunities to sportsmen and women with a physical disability world-wide.
We should add to this motto and these values, an inherent and transparent pathway for athletes to follow in their planning towards a successful future in the Paralympic movement.
IWAS World Games in one of the biggest sport events for athletes with physical impairment. Every two years the Games welcome the best athletes from all over the world to compete Athletics, Swimming, Table Tennis and Archery. In 2015 IWAS World Games two new sports will be added to the programme: the brand new Paralympic sport para-taekwondo and armwrestling.
World Taekwondo Federation and International Armsport Federation for Disabled both have signed the Memorandum of Understanding with IWAS to promote sports.
Usually, G4 is reserved for the continental para-taekwondo championships that are open to participation from all over the world. In order to promote participation in this important event WTF agreed that the Games should be given a higher rank.
