According to the new World Taekwondo Federation (WTF) rules, classification of para-taekwondo athletes is needed. European Continent is currently the strongest and the most successful continent developing para-taekwondo in the world.
Counting 16 countries in Europeean region and a record number of participants at Continental Chapmpionships, EPTU decided to find the candidates to Classifiers in Europe. It would help to promote para-taekwondo within European territory holding more National and International Para-taekwondo events as well as attract more and more people to taekwondo.
In conduction and under patronage of WTF, EPTU collected the applications from different countries. WTF Head of Classification Mrs.Terrie Moore chose the best Candidates for the Seminar as it is very important to have only high qualified specialists in Classification Panels.
Finally, 4 candidates from Russia, Croatia and Austria attended the 1st International Classification Course and finished it successfuly.
A three days course included theoretical, practical and observation parts.
The 1st day candidates were introduced with classification rules, medical and technical procedures and codes.
The 2nd day candidates got a chance to try themselves in Classification as well as observed the process of Medical and Technical procedures.
The 3rd day: observations during competition under the supervision.
At the end of the course all the participants got the status of Classifier trainee and need to attend and be evaluated during two more competitions under the supervision of the WTF instructors.
EPTU is going to organise more International Seminars before the official para-taekwondo events and looking forward to receive more applications in order to have a strong classification panel of professionals in Europe!
