Following IWAS Executive Board approval, the International Wheelchair & Amputee Sports Federation is delighted to announce the IWAS World Games 2017 have been awarded to the host city of Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates.
The Games, which will be held from 30th November to 9th December 2017 (dates to be confirmed), will return to the venues of the IWAS World Games 2011 in the third largest emirate in the United Arab Emirates.
The proposed preliminary sports programme includes Athletics, Archery, Powerlifting, Shooting, Para Taekwondo and Wheelchair Fencing and will host athletes from Under 20’s to Open and Master classes (40+). All competition will be hosted in the state-of-the-art sport facilities onsite at the Al Thiqah Club.
The IWAS General Assembly 2017 will also be hosted in conjunction with the Games which will include elections for the IWAS President and Executive Board members.
Subject to contract, the entry process for teams will open on 1st February 2017 following a site-visit made by IWAS in January 2017.
